The Bechtel Residences, California Institute of Technology

The Bechtel Residences is a 225 bed student housing project to ll a campus housing gap at Cal Tech. The facility consists of 6 2 and 3 story ground up buildings with a total square footage of 95,000 sq. ft. The project also included a full commercial kitchen with dining facilities for 400. A solar water heating system was installed to save energy. Muir-Chase was contracted as a “design assist” subcontractor and aided in completing the design. An Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) system was utilized, which shares prots amongst all team members. The project was fully BIM coordinated between all disciplines. Muir-Chase was proud to bring this project in under budget. The facility is in the process of being LEED certied.
